DeepMind Exodus: Google Sells AI to Military, Staff Quit Over Ethics

It's always awesome to have you on here, Zach, and you're always shocking us with your updates every week. So, what's happening this week? Well, uh, Google is actually back in the news. Um, it turns out that the people that were in DeepMind, um, have found out that Google is doing a wholesale sell of their, uh, AI infrastructure that they've been like building with in Google and giving it to the US military. And they are resigning right now. Uh, interesting, two people resigned yesterday. One of them was Alex Turner. Um, and he basically said the following. He said, um, I resigned from Google DeepMind because it broke its founding promise by selling AI to the military without any restrictions against killer robots or mass spying. Uh, for months, I worked to stop this but watched powerful ethicists and institutions choose silence. And so, what's what's really interesting is that when DeepMind sold to Google, they had all these stipulations, like you can't, like, create autonomous kill drones.
