My Iraq War Guilt & Political Awakening: Beyond Mainstream Media

I'd say it would be around 2011, 2012. Um, I had, uh, you know, long been in my earlier days, you know, just kind of a standard off the factory line Republican kind of guy. Um, and, uh, uh, you know, I had a career where I was distracted. You know, I was a workaholic financial services executive. I really didn't have that much time to pay attention, so I just, like so many people, skim off the, uh, what major media was putting out about various topics. And I think a big thing for me was the, uh, war in Iraq. Um, where, uh, you know, in the wake of 9/11, like so many people, you know, you just wanted to respond and lash out and make sure that never happened again. Um, and unless you were deeply examining the lead-up, you know, and the context for 9/11, for example, uh, I, like so many people, was, uh, uh, supportive of the invasion of Iraq. You know, I remember thinking, you know, 'better safe than sorry,' which is just a god-awful thing to say when you think about what you're really saying about the consequences for those people over ...
