How I Was Convinced of Earth's Catastrophic Past

What convinced you that Earth's history may have been shaped by periodic catastrophic events rather than purely gradual change? What an awesome question. And we could launch, we could build a two-hour discussion around that one question, Tom. But, but, you know, it wasn't, well, it was a, it was a series of, I would say, small incremental epiphanies that led me in the 70s to the realization that there was more to the story to Earth change than one grain of sand and one drop of water at a time. And I think part of it was growing up in rural Minnesota, and where I grew up, northwest of Minneapolis, was right there at the edge of the Great Laurentide ice sheet, and there was a lobe of that ice sheet called the Superior Lobe that that waxed and waned pretty much right where I lived. So, it sculpted the landscape, the hills, the lakes, all of that, uh, the came terraces that they would be called along the uh, Mississippi River, which was just a stone's throw from where I lived.
