DeepSeek AI: China's Meritocracy vs. Stolen Tech Myth?

I've been doing a lot of coding with DeepSeek over the last few days since it was released and it's it's extraordinary, it's really extraordinary. Um, but here's the thing. The in the Chinese education system, my understanding, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that it's largely a meritocracy. You earn your way into the college degree uh or the college acceptance. You earn your way even into the the earlier schools. And of course, you know, the Chinese moms, there's kind of a famous archetype of like study, study, study, you know, like the Chinese parents are really intense with their kids to study. But the the result of that is that, you know, in America, for example, University of California, San Diego, there's a very large percentage of incoming university freshmen who are mathematically illiterate, and they have to go through remedial seventh grade math.
