Molecules vs. Markets: The True Crisis of Physical Resources

It seems like, you know, the financial markets can paper over things for some time, but eventually the molecules become the issue. And you may not know this, but I I run a food science lab and we ran into this very early on. We use a lot of mass spec instruments that consume helium. And so in March, I I told my staff to order a year's supply of helium which they did and our gas supplier delivered it. So we have these massive canisters of helium. Two weeks later, we got a letter from our gas supplier declaring force majeure on all helium deliveries for the rest of the year. So I told my staff, this is why our lab is still functioning because we knew that helium molecules were going to be in short supply. We can't function without the helium. The US economy can't function without hydrocarbons. Right. And, you know, there's there's a buffer in the system, but eventually without the molecules, you can't do the thing that those molecules enable. Why is it so difficult for people to understand this?
