EVs, Grid Stress & Power Outages: Your Backup Power Guide
15 views4:16
The current geopolitical landscape is driving a rapid shift towards solar and battery backup systems, with many new EVs even offering Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality to power your home essentials. This video explores how these massive car batteries can be a critical resource during outages.
However, regions like California are experiencing severe grid stress due to the influx of electric vehicles, leading to unpredictable power rollouts and surprisingly high charging costs. Learn why prioritizing personal preparedness with solutions like solar generators and satellite phones is more crucial than ever.

Well, one of the shifts that's happening because of this current war in the Middle East and the destruction of hydrocarbon infrastructure is a lot more people are shifting into solar and battery options, especially as redundant systems. Uh, were you aware that many of the car companies that make EVs that are sold in America, uh, Toyota's coming out with one, Hyundai, Kia, etc. that they have a, what's it called, vehicle to load feature here where you can use the car's battery to power like your blender or your laptop or whatever. You plug into an outlet because that's a massive battery. So your your car is kind of like a giant, well, it's a giant battery in those cases. Yeah. But then you do have to recharge it eventually. Exactly. And and I think as you know, California's moving more toward electric cars, um, you know, during the summer, and I can't even imagine the summer. I know last summer, we had roll outs where, um, they would say, you know, you you have I I didn't it didn't bother me because I have generators, but my friends and family where they have two or three-hour roll ...
