The West's Addiction to Underestimating Its Enemies

is the West and Trump addicted to underestimating adversaries because admitting their competence is politically inconvenient. Adversaries as in foreign adversaries, I heard Korea. Yeah. Uh yeah, definitely. We consistently do this. We've done this. To be fair, we do this quite frequently, not just under Trump. I mean, we remember, Right. Everybody going into World War II in the United States government was fixated on the Nazi threat. Some were fixated on the potential of a of a Soviet, you know, threat. This is before World War II for us got got going. Nobody was really taking seriously the Japanese threat. And of course, the Japanese are the ones who ended up attacking us. Um, and in some cases, we were more concerned about Italy and Benito Mussolini than we were Japan. And there was some racism there, there was some cultural chauvinism, there was some short-sightedness. Um, we see that play out repeatedly, I think over the last 80 years in American national security sort of history.
